Garden Centre Head of Department - Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby

The Head of Department role is a key role within our store, requiring an experienced, organized, quick thinking and capable person to work within our Head of Department team. This position is full on and requires someone who rolls up their sleeves and is very hands on with their team, has proven supervisory experience in a retail environment and the ability to make concise quick decisions at any moment.
If you are an experienced garden retail professional with green fingers and a customer-focused attitude, we are seeking someone like you to help manage our Garden Centre team, pass on your knowledge to the team while striving to meet our overall goal of selling more plants.
The Role:
- Supervising day to day operations, Tuesday to Saturday
- Will be involved in the development and implementation of improved policies and procedures.
- Ensure the team operates with a high standard of health and safety to ensure standards are met and exceeded.
- Will work with an experienced team and support the Retail Manager to implement new ideas and modify existing practices.

Your gardening passion means you will enjoy helping our customers select the right plants, along with those add on products they need to make the project successful. Ideally you will be experienced with the sale of both green and dry garden goods.
About You:
- Ideally 2-3 years experience in people management with the ability to engage your teams to continually improve. You are someone who does this by working with your team in a hands on approach.
- Your ability to build collaborative partnerships internally and externally will be a key strength you will be able to leverage from day one.
- You will need the ability to identify opportunities and you will be the sort of person who is continually looking for efficiencies or opportunities to improve existing processes and work methodologies.
