AEC Hardware Ltd, proudly locally owned & operating Mitre 10 MEGA Ferrymead & Prestons, is seeking an experienced and motivated Building Supplies Trade Representative to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a proven sales professional with strong industry knowledge to manage key accounts and drive new business across the North Canterbury region.
About the Role
Reporting to the Trade Rep Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with builders, contractors, and commercial clients. You will need to be hungry to drive new business to meet your sales targets by identifying and converting new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Growing and maintaining your customer base from the ground up
- Generate new business through proactive prospecting and relationship building
- Provide product knowledge and solutions tailored to customer needs
- Maintain a strong understanding of building products, systems, and compliance requirements
- Achieve sales targets while maintaining excellent customer service standards
- Ensure accurate pricing, quoting, and follow‑up
- Uphold business accountability, reporting, and margin management
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Trade Representative in building supplies or a closely related industry
- A demonstrated history of achieving sales targets and growing accounts
- Strong knowledge of building products and New Zealand building compliance
- The ability to actively manage accounts and work autonomously
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills
- A positive, can‑do attitude with strong personal drive
- Sound business acumen and accountability
- Full, clean NZ driver’s licence
