Sustainability Advisor

Mitre 10 has been a part of New Zealand's home improvement culture since 1974. An award-winning success story, inspiring Kiwi to love where they live, work and play with our home improvement, garden and trade offer.

We’re on the lookout for a Sustainability Advisor to join our Albany based Support Centre!

We’re a small but impactful team, genuine about creating a real and positive sustainable impact on the environment, our operations, and our communities we are part of. We balance our purpose and ownership with a can-do attitude and have plenty of fun along the way.

If you’re proactive, data-driven, thrive on finding solutions, and aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves to manage multiple partnerships across diverse sectors while turning great ideas into real action, this role is for you.

What you’ll do

You’ll support the delivery of Mitre 10’s national sustainability programme, helping drive initiatives that make a genuine difference across our network and our communities. Every day will bring something new, from supporting store sustainability leads to helping track carbon data through to circular solutions that support our customers.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Update and manage the utility data files to measure the network's Carbon Emissions, ESG reporting, reduction management plans, and monthly sustainability reporting.
  • Lead the annual external carbon verification audit.
  • Help deliver the national annual work programme for the network's sustainability leads (Champions) and provide inspiration and support for local sustainability initiatives.
  • Create and support the sustainability plan, including the development, maintenance, and periodic review of processes and procedures for managing sustainability requirements.
  • Collaborate with teams on product stewardship and sustainable packaging.
  • Keep sustainability visible, practical, and achievable right across Mitre 10.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for a proactive self-starter who’s confident managing multiple partnerships across diverse industry sectors. You’ll be skilled in using Excel and MS Office to analyse our carbon footprint and transition plans and bring a solutions-focused mindset to projects that help our network reduce its environmental impact.

A qualification in sustainability is preferred, along with 3+ years’ experience.
