📌 About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to join our busy central, purchasing team. This role plays a key part in analysing stock positions across our five stores and distribution centre, and proactively balancing stock at item level on a daily basis. By maximising on-shelf availability, you’ll directly contribute to improved stock turns, inventory health, and sales performance. This is a permanent, full-time role based at Mitre 10 MEGA Albany, reporting to the Chief Merchandise Officer.
🔍 Key Responsibilities
* Balance key seasonal stock, working closely with the Distribution Centre to manage allocation and container stock arrival
* Monitor daily sales to identify stock imbalances and transfer opportunities
* Review stock levels in key departments during major trading periods, ensuring transfers are completed
* Manage locally imported items, transferring stock to maintain optimal levels
* Maintain clear and consistent communication with store management and leadership teams to close out transfers
* Respond promptly to transfer requests from store managers and senior executives
* Provide weekly written feedback on the role’s impact and collaborate with the wider team to achieve business goals

* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Solid Excel skills (essential)
* Experience with Power BI and Data Warehouse systems (advantageous)
* A proactive, analytical mindset with the ability to spot patterns and opportunities in stock data
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities with accuracy
