Senior Supply Planner

Mitre 10 has been a part of New Zealand's home improvement culture since 1974. An award-winning success story, inspiring Kiwi to love where they live, work and play with our home improvement, garden and trade offer.

We’re looking for a Senior Supply Planner to join our Supply Chain team on a 12-month fixed term contract, taking ownership of a portfolio of local and imported products. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll plan, purchase, import and distribute product efficiently and cost-effectively, while also acting as a technical expert and mentor within the team.

About the role

Reporting to the Supply Planning Manager, you’ll play a key role in maintaining strong stock availability, supporting inventory performance and ensuring product gets to where it needs to be, when it needs to be there. You’ll work closely with Supply Planners, Category Managers, Demand Planners, suppliers and freight partners to manage the end-to-end planning and purchasing process.

You’ll also be a trusted technical expert across key systems and processes, including IBP, SAP, LIMA, Indents and local allocation suppliers. Alongside your own portfolio, you’ll support other Supply Planners with priorities, queries and best-practice ways of working.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing a portfolio of local and imported products to support in-stock and inventory KPIs.
  • Planning and purchasing continuity, new range, indent and non-continuity product.
  • Using planning data, weeks of cover alerts and system insights to make timely replenishment decisions.
  • Coordinating purchase orders, supplier confirmations, shipping documentation, customs clearance, receipting and order processing.
  • Working through shipping options, landed costs, freight reconciliation and margin impacts to support commercial outcomes.
  • Partnering with Category Managers and Demand Planners on new products, run-outs, forecast issues and range transitions.
  • Supporting continuous improvement across supply planning, importing, costing and indent processes.
  • Sharing knowledge, mentoring others and providing technical guidance across the Supply Planning team.
  • At least three years’ experience in a similar supply chain, planning, importing or purchasing role.
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence working with numbers, costings and product data.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and strong general systems capability.
  • Experience with overseas purchasing, shipping and import requirements.
  • An understanding of retail distribution networks and the importance of balancing availability, cost and inventory outcomes.
  • A collaborative style, with the confidence to guide others, challenge constructively and build strong working relationships.
