Purchasing Officer (Full-Time) | Riviera Hardware Holdings Ltd.
Who We Are
Riviera Hardware Holdings Ltd is the largest group within the Mitre 10 network,
proudly Kiwi-owned and operated. From one store in Warkworth in 2009, we’ve
grown to include Mitre 10 MEGA Albany (New Zealand’s largest hardware store),
alongside New Lynn, Silverdale, Warkworth and Mitre 10 Whangaparaoa. We also
own and operate several Columbus Coffee cafés, a Distribution Centre, and a
Frame & Truss Manufacturing Plant — giving us a true end-to-end offer
across retail and trade.
This is a fast-moving, practical business where the detail matters — and where the right people make a visible impact.
The Role
This is a permanent, full-time, on-site role based at Mitre 10 MEGA Albany,
reporting to the Chief Merchandise Officer. You’ll be part of the
central purchasing team, focused on execution — making sure the right stock is
ordered, arrives on time, and is available for customers when needed.
The environment is high-volume and process-driven, so success in this role comes down to accuracy, organisation, and consistently following things through. The impact is immediate — what you do directly supports stock availability, sales, and cost control across the business.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Running automated supplier orders using system tools
- Approving and placing customer and replenishment orders
- Managing order quantities to optimise freight and reduce costs
- Monitoring zero stock-on-hand issues and correcting replenishment settings
- Maintaining core range compliance and accurate item data
- Reducing purchasing through effective stock balancing and branch transfers
- Maximising sales opportunities through effective management of seasonal, indent, and excess stock
- Working with suppliers and internal teams to resolve ordering or stock issues quickly
About you
You’re someone who works accurately, stays organised under pressure, and follows things through. You’ll bring:
- Previous experience in purchasing, inventory, or a similar role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with a clear, team‑first approach
- Strong attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry
- Confidence working with numbers and systems (Excel essential)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- A practical, problem-solving mindset — you fix issues, not pass them on
- Exposure to SAP and experience with data warehouse or reporting tools (preferred, not essential)
What’s In It For You
Everyday Benefits
- Generous staff purchase scheme at Mitre 10 stores (eligibility applies)
- Discounted food and drinks at select Columbus Coffee café’s
- Access to staff perks and savings across retail, travel, and more
Growth & Development
- Ongoing training and development opportunities
- Exposure to supply, and inventory functions at scale
- Internal career opportunities across the wider Riviera group
Recognition & Team
- Supportive, team-focused environment
- Recognition programmes aligned to company values
- Long service recognition and awards
