Merchandise Planner & Analyst

We’re looking for a Merchandise Planner & Analyst to join our team and play a key role in shaping the product offering across our MEGA, Mitre 10, and Hammer Hardware stores.

From wheelbarrows to thumb tacks, paint to power tools, and green goods in between – our product range is vast. Merchandise planning is critical to ensuring the right products are in the right place at the right time, driving profitability and customer satisfaction. Few roles have such a direct impact on the bottom line.

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Merchandise Planning Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Delivering analytical support, insights, and actionable recommendations.
  • Preparing, coordinating, and facilitating regular financial planning review cycles.
  • Supporting the merchandise journey from source to shelf through analytics and reporting.
  • Collaborating closely with Category Managers, Merchandise Managers, and cross-functional teams to provide timely information and support.

What we’re looking for

You’ll bring proven experience in merchandise planning or a similar analytical role, ideally within retail. You understand best practice and know how to optimise financial returns across categories.

Key skills and attributes include:

  • Advanced data skills – extracting, consolidating, and manipulating data with accuracy.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and proficiency in MS Excel; Power BI experience is a plus.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Clear communication and relationship-building ability.
  • A sharp eye for detail and accuracy.
