Landscaper / Garden Designer consultant

Our Garden Centre has expanded by 30% from its current size to enable development of Wellington’s newest leading inspirational and aspirational landscaping displays at Mitre 10 Crofton Downs for the Spring/Summer season.  It showcases both hard and soft landscaping.  This is a new concept to Mitre 10 and we are looking for a team member who has landscaping experience and/or a NZ Certificate in Horticulture Level 3 or higher qualification to assist our customers with their landscaping requirements and help create garden planting plans.

Our vision is to offer a design and plan consultation that will bring the customers ideas/dreams into reality.

The ideal applicant must have:

  • Garden Centre or Nursery experience
  • a passion for plants and a robust level of knowledge that will enable you to provide advice to customers on plant selection and care
  • sound knowledge of soft landscaping – competent plant knowledge and plant care
  • quotation knowledge with previous experience in quoting
  • superb retail and customer service skills
  • ability to work individually and as a member of the team
  • plant stock ordering
  • expertise across all aspects of green goods, ordering, maintenance, care and control, and associated products
  • good knowledge of hard landscaping material being timber, fencing, paving, etc.
  • a passion for providing excellent customer service each and every time
  • excellent communication skills
  • good time management and a willingness to learn
  • be able to multi-task, and have the ability to follow through and follow up situations in a timely manner
  • computer savvy
  • possess a keen eye for detail
  • full drivers licence, valid class 1 or forklift licence beneficial (forklift training as required)
