Kitchen Design and Sales Supervisor
Mitre 10 Mega is a New Zealand chain of home improvement stores established in 1974. We offer a wide range of household hardware, building supplies, garden products and much more!
Mitre 10 Mega Cambridge are looking to add value to our Interior Solutions Team by recruiting a Kitchen Designer and Sales Supervisor.
This is a Full-Time permanent 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday.
Purpose - How you'll help inspire kiwis to love where they live
- Guide customers to plan Interior Solutions that balance style, function, and budget—supporting them from concept to delivery.
- Support a small team to deliver daily tasks, great customer experience, and safe, tidy operations in your area, including supporting team capability by coaching, guiding and setting clear expectations.
Key deliverables - What you'll deliver
- Project co-ordination with builders, suppliers and sub-contractors.
- Effective communication skills and be able to deal with team, customers, architects and designers.
- Allocate daily tasks and set clear expectations; adjust coverage within your area to match trade and customer flow.
- Manage workflow daily across your team, utilising your time management skills.
- Coach team members on service standards, product basics, and safe work practices; provide timely feedback and recognition.
- Managing Kitchen teams performance of Sales, Service, designs, meeting set targets.
- Monitor team workflow and output daily and weekly, ensuring customer deadlines are being met.
- Peer review your team’s output of work, ensuring accuracy to meet customer requirements
- Upskill your team’s knowledge and ability to produce accurate kitchen designs to spec and on time.
- Apply store policies, procedures, and safety requirements in your area, addressing issues promptly and escalating risks when required.
- Support onboarding and on-the-job training for new team members.
- Handle customer escalations appropriate to your authority; pass on complex issues promptly.
- Understand customer needs and space/consent considerations; propose practical layouts and product combinations.
- Coordinate site measures and follow customer/site requirements (inductions/PPE/traffic rules) when visiting homes or sites.
- Order special products; track supplier updates; keep customers informed and manage changes.
- Liaise with installers/contractors and internal teams to support smooth delivery and issue resolution.
- Understand customer needs and space constraints; create concept layouts and mood/finish choices.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ranges, finishes, and standards.

Technical skills you have
- Working knowledge of store systems (POS, inventory/labels, task/rostering).
- 10+ years’ experience using 3D and CAD kitchen design software platforms.
- Basic reporting literacy for KPIs/checklists.
- Accuracy with numbers and record keeping.
- Familiarity with incident/hazard reporting tools.
- Planning/design tools and software (or willingness to learn).
- Product knowledge—fixtures, fittings, waterproofing elements, ventilation considerations.
- Reading and interpret technical drawings/ plans/measurements; quoting, ordering and general order workflows.
- Awareness of relevant NZ consumer legislation in sales interactions.
This is a Full-Time Permanent 40 hour week role, Monday to Friday.
