Fixed-Term Junior Chef – Columbus Café Mitre 10 MEGA Mt Wellington

We’re on the hunt for a Junior Chef to join our team!

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Junior Chef to join our kitchen team at Columbus Café, Mitre 10 MEGA Mt Wellington, on a fixed-term basis.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in a busy commercial kitchen while working alongside a friendly and supportive team. Our café can shift from quiet to busy within minutes, so we’re looking for someone who can stay organised, adaptable and composed during busy service periods.

What you’ll be responsible for

• Preparing and cooking menu items to a high standard
• Assisting with food preparation and daily kitchen operations
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe kitchen
• Following food safety and hygiene procedures
• Assisting with stock rotation and kitchen organisation
• Working efficiently and supporting the team during busy service periods

What we’re looking for

• Previous commercial kitchen experience is preferred, but we’re happy to support someone who is keen to learn and develop
• Strong communication and time-management skills
• Reliability and a positive attitude
• The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
• Pride in your work and a genuine interest in food and hospitality
• Someone who is adaptable and able to remain calm under pressure
