Inventory Coordinator

At Mitre 10 MEGA Henderson & Westgate, we're strengthening our inventory operating model and are seeking two experienced Inventory Coordinators to join our business, with one role based at Henderson and one at Westgate.

These are newly created specialist positions designed to elevate inventory governance, strengthen inventory accuracy and support the business through a significant period of operational change and SAP transformation. The roles have been established to provide dedicated inventory expertise within each store, creating clear ownership and accountability for inventory performance.

This is not a traditional stock controller position.

We are looking for professionals who understand that inventory accuracy is achieved through strong governance, disciplined processes, effective stakeholder engagement and a culture of accountability. You will be someone who can influence others, drive continuous improvement and successfully support teams through changes in ways of working.

About the Role

As the Inventory Coordinator, you will become the inventory subject matter expert within your store, partnering closely with Store Management, and Department Managers to ensure inventory records accurately reflect physical stock holdings and that inventory processes are consistently followed.

A key part of the role will be supporting our new inventory operating model.

You will work alongside an external stocktake provider who will conduct the annual independent stocktake, while taking ownership of stocktake planning, store readiness, coordination, communication, investigation of variances and follow-up actions.

You will also coordinate targeted inventory count programmes throughout the year, focusing on high-risk, high-value and exception-based inventory categories to proactively identify issues, improve inventory integrity and reduce stock loss.

The role offers a unique opportunity to influence store-wide performance through analysis, investigation, coaching and collaboration rather than direct people management.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive inventory governance and ownership across the store.
• Monitor inventory performance and investigate stock discrepancies and variances.
• Analyse reporting to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Coordinate annual stocktake preparation and execution with an external stocktake provider.
• Lead targeted risk-based and high-value inventory count programmes.
• Support managers and teams to improve inventory process compliance and accountability.
• Provide inventory coaching, education and guidance across the business.
• Identify root causes of recurring inventory issues and develop sustainable solutions.
• Support inventory readiness activities associated with our SAP implementation.
• Build strong relationships that help teams adopt new processes and ways of working.

About You

To succeed in this role, you'll bring a combination of inventory expertise, business improvement capability and strong stakeholder engagement skills.

You will likely have experience in inventory management, retail operations, supply chain, distribution, warehousing or a related environment where inventory accuracy, stock integrity and governance were critical to business performance.

You'll also demonstrate:

• Experience coordinating or supporting annual stocktakes and ongoing inventory count programmes.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to identify root causes.
• Experience working within governance-focused inventory environments.
• A track record of driving operational improvements and strengthening process compliance.
• The ability to influence stakeholders and gain buy-in without relying on formal authority.
• Experience supporting teams through change and helping people adopt new ways of working.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and coaching skills.
• High levels of organisation, resilience and attention to detail.
• A continuous improvement mindset and a passion for operational excellence.

Experience with SAP or ERP system implementations will be highly regarded, as will experience working through large-scale operational or business transformation initiatives.
