Head of Showroom

Permanent – Full Time (43 hours per week)

Mitre 10 MEGA Invercargill is a locally owned and operated business committed to delivering outstanding customer service and great value products. Due to the relocation of a member of our management team, we are seeking an experienced, motivated, and passionate leader to join our team as Head of Showroom.

The Head of Showroom will be responsible for leading and managing the allocated department categories: Kitchen & Bathroom, Plumbing, Storage & Flooring, Lighting, and Paint. This includes growing team capability, increasing sales and profitability, and continuously improving the customer experience. This position has full managerial responsibility across the allocated departments, including sales performance, employment relations, and health & safety.

This is a busy, hands-on role, working within the business to drive sales targets, maintain and enhance store standards, and be actively involved with the products we sell. This role will also form part of the operational Duty Manager roster, which includes working one day at the weekend on a permanent basis. The usual roster pattern for this role is Tuesday to Saturday.

Candidates for this role are expected to have extensive experience in sales and people leadership, ideally within big-box retail or grocery. You will likely have been a Store Manager in a small to medium-sized store, or a Department/Assistant Manager in a larger format store.

You will need to possess the following skills:

•  Has solid experience in the DIY industry

•  Is a natural leader with excellent communication and people skills

•  Thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment

•  Is physically fit and comfortable with manual handling and forklift operation

•  Is proactive, solutions-focused, and passionate about delivering results
