The Opportunity
We are looking for a results-driven General Manager to lead the new Mitre 10 Wellington Central store. This on-site role offers a competitive salary, includes a bonus profit share option for the right person, along with generous staff discounts. You will be reporting to the Managing Director and be responsible for:
- Driving strategy and performance – developing and executing business strategies that align with our vision and values.
- Leading a high-performing team – inspiring and mentoring a team to deliver exceptional customer service and sales results.
- Ensuring operation excellence – overseeing merchandising, Inventory, HR, Health & Safety, Financials and Store Administration.
What You’ll Bring
- Retail leadership – you will have 5+ years senior retail management experience in a big-box or large-format environment. Experience in home improvement would be of benefit.
- Business acumen – a track record of exceeding sales and profit targets while optimising store operations.
- People leadership – proven ability to engage, develop and inspire a diverse team to create a positive workplace culture.
- Operations expertise – strong knowledge of merchandising, stock integrity, sales forecasting, and compliance with NZ Employment and Health & Safety laws.
- Customer focus – passion for enhancing the customer experience and building long-term relationships.

This role is permanent full-time position, 45 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with a potential start in July 2025.
