🌱 About the Store
Silverdale is a modern, beautifully presented MEGA store serving the growing North Auckland community. With growing local foot traffic, our Gardens department plays a key role in creating that first impression — vibrant, seasonal, and inspiring.
🌿 About the Role
This is a 42.5-hour, full-time junior leadership role working Tuesday to Saturday, across a mix of opening, mid and closing shifts.
- Reporting to our experienced and supportive Garden Centre Manager, you’ll take day-to-day responsibility for leading the Gardens team on shift — driving standards, presentation, stock flow, and customer experience.
- This is not a senior management role — it’s an ideal next step for someone ready to move into true leadership, or for a developing leader who wants structured mentoring and hands-on support.
🌞 On the Floor, On the Go
- Leading and motivating the team on shift
- Maintaining high visual merchandising and plant presentation standards
- Supporting stock control, ordering, and seasonal changeovers
- Providing confident product advice to customers
- Ensuring health & safety standards are upheld
- Helping drive department performance
🌼 What You’ll Bring
This role will suit someone who enjoys structure, clear standards, and being coached to succeed — our Garden Centre Manager is experienced and committed to developing the right person.To keep this role focused and selective, we’re looking for someone who already has:
- Previous retail leadership experience (e.g. Team Leader, 2IC, Duty Supervisor level)
- A genuine interest in horticulture, landscaping, or garden retail
- Practical plant knowledge (or current horticulture/landscape studies with some previous leadership experience)
- The ability to lead from the front — hands-on, practical, and visible
- Strong communication skills and confidence managing people
- Physical capability for a role that involves lifting, movement, and some outdoor work
