Functional Process Specialist - Core Finance

We’re looking for a Functional Process Specialist – Core Finance on a 2-year fixed term contract to play a key role in helping our stores get ready for, and successfully transition to, new ways of working.

About the role

This role sits at the heart of our Programme ONE deployment. You’ll work directly with in‑store teams, supporting them through their deployment journey, from readiness through to go‑live and beyond.

You’ll be a subject‑matter expert in one or more functional areas of the Programme ONE solution, bringing together SAP knowledge and practical store process understanding. Just as importantly, you’ll act as a trusted guide, coaching, mentoring, and supporting store teams as they adapt to change.

You’ll be supported by the Deployment Lead and work closely with the wider Programme ONE team, Change and Learning Experience teams, and our national store network.

NB. This role requires extended nationwide travel, often for prolonged periods, to support store deployments.

What you’ll be doing

This is a hands‑on, people‑facing role. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting stores to prepare for and deploy the Programme ONE SAP solution
  • Acting as first‑level support for in‑store deployment teams
  • Clearly explaining new processes, how they work in SAP, and how they fit with store operations
  • Helping stores adapt their existing processes in line with the Mitre 10 Target Operating Model
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with store teams and programme stakeholders
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency in store operations and progressing these with the business
  • Collaborating with Change and Learning teams to embed capability and ongoing learning
  • Providing cover for deployment resources where required
  • Contributing to documentation, progress reporting, and team collaboration

What we’re looking for

You don’t need to come from a traditional IT background, this role suits someone who enjoys blending process, systems, and people.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Strong stakeholder and relationship‑building skills
  • Confidence delivering training, coaching, or knowledge transfer
  • Proven problem‑solving and continuous improvement capability
  • Comfort working in change and ambiguity
  • Experience working across different teams or functions

From a technical perspective, experience with the following will set you up for success:

  • SAP functional process knowledge (or similar ERP systems)
  • Accounting/finance experience preferred
  • Business process mapping and analysis
  • First‑level SAP or system support
  • Understanding of retail or store‑based operations (highly beneficial)
