Category Assistant - Building Products

We are currently on the lookout for an exceptional Category Assistant to join our Building Products team at our Albany based Support Centre.

Retail is a fantastic industry to be in and this is a truly exciting opportunity if you are wanting to make product management your career path – promotions, buying, product development, supplier relations, negotiation, analysis – it has it all. You will also be mentored, developed and be a key support person for our Category Manager to help grow these interesting and varied categories. Within Mitre 10 there is a defined career path for anyone wanting to move into category management, with the Category Assistant the first, but critical step.

Core responsibilities in the role include:

 

  • Providing administrative support to the Category Manager in range management.
  • Updating product stock files.
  • Involvement with planning and implementation of the category’s promotional programme.
  • Communicating with our customers, stores and suppliers.
To be effective in the role it is expected that you will have solid administration experience and/or a relevant qualification (Retail, Business, Operations, Supply Chain), excellent written and verbal English communication skills, intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills and excellent organisational skills, along with the ability to not get flustered under pressure, think laterally and to be able to take responsibility for key tasks.
