At Columbus Coffee, we’re all about great food, expertly crafted coffee and creating a welcoming café experience for our local community.

Our Warkworth café is a popular place for locals to relax, refuel and catch up. We operate in a busy, fast-paced environment where friendly service, teamwork and consistently high standards matter.

While we work as one team, our front-of-house, barista and kitchen roles require different skills and experience. We are looking for reliable casual team members who can step into a specific role and provide capable support when needed.

 

📍 About Our Casual Opportunities

We’re building a pool of reliable casuals across Front of House roles, including Café Assistants and Baristas, and Back of House roles, including Kitchen Assistants, Bakers, Cooks and Chefs. You’ll provide cover for staff absences and busy periods within your area of experience. These roles have no fixed or guaranteed hours, and shifts may be offered at short notice. Reliable transport to Warkworth, including for early starts, is essential.

 

☕ Front of house

Our FOH casuals help keep the café running smoothly during busy periods and staff absences. Depending on your experience, you could be taking orders, serving customers, running food and drinks, clearing tables, preparing cold drinks, supporting the barista or helping with basic food preparation.

If you’re an experienced barista, you may also cover the coffee machine. You’ll need proven commercial barista experience and the confidence to step in with minimal training or supervision.

 

🍳 Back of House

Our BOH casuals help keep the kitchen prepared and service running smoothly during busy periods and staff absences. Depending on your experience, you could be completing food preparation, baking cabinet food, preparing for the next day, supporting service or cooking menu items on the hot line.

For cook or chef shifts, you’ll need proven commercial kitchen experience and the confidence to step in and work effectively with minimal training or supervision.

 

💡 About you

Relevant café, hospitality or commercial kitchen experience is strongly preferred. Barista, cook and chef shifts require proven experience in those areas. Across all roles, we need people who are:

• Reliable and responsive when contacted about available shifts
• Calm and productive during busy service periods
• Comfortable stepping into an established team
• Able to follow instructions and workplace procedures
• Committed to food safety, cleanliness and consistent standards
• Available for some weekend and public holiday work
• Able to accept occasional shifts at short notice
• Able to travel reliably to and from Warkworth
