Columbus Coffee New Lynn is located within the Garden Centre at Mitre 10 MEGA New Lynn and is proudly owned and operated by Riviera Hardware Holdings, the largest group within the Mitre 10 network.

Our group operates Mitre 10 and Mitre 10 MEGA stores, along with Columbus Coffee cafés across Albany, New Lynn, Warkworth and Silverdale.

As one of New Zealand's most recognised café brands, Columbus Coffee is known for quality food and coffee, welcoming service, and a loyal customer following. Our New Lynn café is a busy, family-friendly destination featuring an indoor playground and a strong base of repeat customers.

We're now looking for an outstanding Café Manager to take ownership of the café and help drive it to its next stage of success.

🧭About the job

This is a hands-on leadership role with full responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the café. You'll lead from the front, set high standards, and create an environment where both customers and team members enjoy coming to work.

Beyond ensuring smooth daily operations, you'll bring the energy, leadership and commercial focus needed to grow the business. You'll identify opportunities to improve quality, increase customer loyalty, develop your team, and drive revenue and profitability.

Working closely with the wider business, you'll have genuine ownership of café performance and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both customer experience and commercial results.

✅Key responsibilities:

• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing café team.
• Drive an exceptional customer experience and maintain outstanding service standards.
• Oversee all front and back of house operations.
• Manage labour costs, rosters and productivity to achieve business goals.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and cleanliness.
• Manage stock control, ordering and supplier relationships.
• Ensure compliance with Food Control Plan, Health & Safety and company procedures.
• Analyse business performance and implement initiatives to grow sales and profitability.
• Create a positive, engaged and accountable team culture.

👤What You'll Bring

• Proven experience managing a busy café, hospitality venue or food service operation.
• Strong leadership capability, with experience leading, developing and motivating teams of 8+ staff.
• Demonstrated success growing sales, improving profitability and delivering strong commercial outcomes.
• A passion for hospitality and a commitment to creating exceptional customer experiences.
• Strong operational skills across rostering, stock management, systems and supplier relationships.
• Sound understanding of Food Control Plans, Health & Safety requirements and regulatory compliance.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to take ownership and make things happen.
• The ability to balance quality, service and commercial performance in a fast-paced environment.
• Franchise experience would be advantageous.
