Cafe Chefs/bakers Columbus Papamoa

We have an exciting opportunity for to join our new Columbus Cafe at the New MEGA Papamoa.

We are after 2 creative chefs to look after our breakfast and lunch menus. 

We are also recruiting for 2 passionate cafe cabinet bakers. 

Papamoa is one of New Zealand’s most beautiful coastal communities! The cafe will be located in the brand new Mitre10 MEGA Papamoa store, opening in October 2026

Columbus Coffee Papamoa is looking for a talented chefs/bakers to help us keep delighting our customers with stand out from the crowd fresh, premium food made right here in our kitchen.

• We are looking for organized, energetic people with proven cooking hospitality experience. You will show your passion for people, have an amazing personality with a strong drive of commitment to the café.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Running daily prep and service with confidence and efficiency
• Keeping our cabinet stocked with delicious, eye-catching items
• Delivering a la carte dishes quickly, consistently and to Columbus standards
• Upholding our FCP, allergen management processes and overall site H&S
• Ensuring equipment, cleanliness and compliance documentation are always on point
• Involved in production forecasting and team communication

What You’ll Bring

• Solid experience in a high-volume kitchen
• Strong skills in cabinet food, baking and cook-to-order service
• A sharp eye for presentation and portion consistency
• Comprehensive knowledge of Food Control Plans and Health & Safety
• Calm, organised leadership and clear communication under pressure
• Reliability, speed and a genuine love of quality
• Excellent baking skills – from muffins and scones to cakes, slices and biscuits

About the Role

• This position is 40 hours per week, working 5 days over a 7 day roster. including a weekend day. 
• Shifts will vary from 6.15am - 5pm to deliver top-notch breakfast and lunch service.
