Assistant Accountant

We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Financial Operations team and play a key role in delivering accurate, timely, and reliable financial information to our bureau stores.

About the role

This is a hands-on accounting role where accuracy, collaboration, and problem-solving are key. You’ll support the Financial Controller and Senior Financial Accountant, working closely with stores and internal teams to ensure the integrity of financial data and smooth financial processes.

You’ll be involved across month-end reporting, reconciliations, budgeting support, and day-to-day finance operations, making this a great opportunity for someone looking to consolidate and grow their accounting experience in a supportive team environment.

What you’ll be doing

• Preparing accurate monthly financial reports for bureau stores
• Completing balance sheet, bank, and cash reconciliations
• Processing monthly and ad hoc journals with appropriate supporting documentation
• Supporting annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes
• Maintaining and updating cashflow forecasts
• Reviewing and checking payment batches
• Providing backup support for Accounts Receivable when required
• Assisting stores with financial queries and issue resolution
• Contributing to continuous improvement and strong team collaboration

What you’ll bring

• Tertiary qualification in accounting or finance
• Solid understanding of core accounting principles
• Experience with reconciliations, journals, and financial reporting processes
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Exposure to financial systems and ERP environments
• A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with internal stakeholders
• A collaborative mindset aligned with Mitre 10 values
