About us at Mitre 10 MEGA Warkworth 

This role is based at Mitre 10 MEGA Warkworth, located in the heart of the Kowhai Coast, north of Auckland, in a region experiencing ongoing residential growth. Our store supports a wide range of trade customers, including local builders and contractors working across new housing and renovation projects in Warkworth and the surrounding areas.

Since opening. we’ve built a team that values reliability, teamwork, and strong customer relationships. The Timber and Building (aka Trade) team focuses on building strong working relationships and delivering practical, consistent service, while the wider store is actively involved in the local community — supporting schools, clubs, and events. We’re also proud to have been finalists for Mitre 10 Store of the Year in 2023/2024. This isn’t just a large-format retail store — it’s a place where people know your name, pitch in to get the job done, and take pride in the work they do.

We’re now looking to add an experienced Trade Account Manager to our Warkworth-based Trade Sales team — someone who is commercially focused, confident building new relationships, and motivated to grow a customer base.


The Opportunity

This is a full-time, permanent role suited to a proven trade sales professional who enjoys operating out in the market rather than behind a desk. While you’ll be supported by a well-established store, strong internal systems, and a respected brand, this is not a passive account management role. Success comes from momentum, visibility, and consistent commercial activity. Reporting to the General Manager – Trade Sales, you will work closely with in-store teams to ensure customers receive practical, on-time, and reliable solutions that help them get the job done.

You will take ownership of a defined trade portfolio, with a strong emphasis on actively winning new trade customers, expanding existing accounts through increased share of spend and identifying upcoming projects and converting opportunities into revenue

 

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Prospecting and acquiring new trade customers across Warkworth and the wider Rodney region
  • Managing and developing an existing portfolio of trade accounts
  • Identifying project opportunities and aligning product solutions
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of market activity, competitors, and industry conditions
  • Negotiating commercially sound outcomes that deliver value to both customer and business
  • Representing Mitre 10 MEGA Warkworth with credibility and professionalism in the trade community

 

About You

You understand how the construction and building supply world works. You can relate to builders, talk product with confidence, and navigate commercial conversations with ease. You’ll bring:

  • Solid experience in trade sales, account management, or business development (required)
  • A background within building, construction, or trade supply environments (required)
  • A proven ability to generate new business, not just manage existing accounts
  • Strong commercial judgement and negotiation capability
  • Good organisation and follow-through — you close the loop
  • A practical, no-nonsense approach to relationship building
  • Drive, resilience, and a results-focused mindset
