At Columbus Coffee, we’re passionate about great food, expertly made coffee, and creating a warm, welcoming café experience for our communities. With 70+ cafés nationwide, we’re proudly Kiwi-owned and operated, blending the local feel of a family business with the training and support of a national brand. Our Albany, Whangaparaoa, and Silverdale cafés are local favorites—and we’re looking for experienced kitchen stars to help out when our regular team are away.

📍 About the Role

This is a casual position—ideal for skilled cooks, chefs, or kitchen assistants who can hit the ground running and bring the good vibes.

🕐 Ad-hoc hours – no set roster
🌙 No night shifts
📍 Work across Albany, Whangaparaoa, and Silverdale
🚗 Reliable transport essential
🥗 Prep, cook, plate – repeat!

💡 What You’ll Bring

✅ 2+ years’ back-of-house experience in a café, restaurant, or fast-paced kitchen
✅ Confident with prep, plating, cabinet food, and assisting with the daily menu
✅ Solid understanding of Food Control Plans and Health & Safety requirements
✅ A calm, positive attitude under pressure
✅ A clear communicator and supportive team player
✅ Willing to pitch in wherever needed—from dishes to rubbish runs
✅ Available weekends, public holidays, and peak periods
✅ Able to travel between Albany, Whangaparaoa, and Silverdale cafés

✨ Bonus points if you're studying towards a Cookery or Culinary Arts qualification (but not essential!)

🔪 What You’ll Be Doing

🥗 Preparing and plating dishes to Columbus standards
🍳 Supporting daily prep for breakfast, lunch, and cabinet food
🧼 Maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards
🥄 Helping with dishwashing and BOH cleanliness
👨‍🍳 Collaborating with the café team to keep service flowing smoothly
