Trade Manager | Building Supplies & Operations

This is an opportunity to lead a substantial Trade operation supporting builders, contractors, project customers and commercial accounts across Auckland.

At Mitre 10 MEGA Albany, Trade is much more than a drive-through. It is a large, fast-moving operation bringing together Trade Operations, Trade Support, Administration, stock management, order fulfilment and customer service.

We are looking for an experienced leader who can bring these functions together, build a high-performing team and deliver strong customer, operational and commercial results.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Store Manager and contributing as a key member of the Albany leadership team, you will lead the day-to-day performance of our Trade operation.

You will create a well-organised, customer-focused environment where orders are fulfilled accurately and on time, stock is available when customers need it, and team members understand how their work contributes to the performance of the wider business.

This is a visible, hands-on leadership role. You will spend time with your team and customers, remove operational barriers, improve processes and hold a clear view of performance across the operation.

Working closely with our Trade Sales team and other senior leaders, you will also contribute to customer retention, account growth and the continued development of our Trade business.

What you’ll be responsible for

You will:

• Lead, coach and develop the teams supporting our Trade operation
• Deliver a consistently strong experience for trade and commercial customers
• Oversee order management and fulfilment, ensuring commitments are delivered accurately and on time
• Manage performance against sales, margin, cost, stock, service and operational targets
• Ensure stock availability, inventory accuracy, workflow and operational efficiency
• Work alongside Trade Sales to support customer growth, retention and account development
• Build effective relationships across the Albany store and wider Riviera business
• Identify and implement practical improvements to systems, processes and ways of working
• Maintain a safe, organised and compliant Trade environment

About you

 

You are an experienced operational leader who is comfortable balancing people, customers and commercial performance.

You may currently be working as a Branch Manager, Operations Manager, Merchant Manager, Building Supplies Manager, Trade Services Manager, Distribution Manager or senior leader within a large customer-facing operation.

You will bring:

 

• Proven experience leading a sizeable operational or customer-facing team
• Strong commercial judgement and confidence working with financial and operational measures
• A successful track record of coaching leaders and building team capability
• Experience improving service, stock, fulfilment or workflow performance
• The ability to build trusted relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders
• A practical leadership style and the willingness to be visible in the operation
• Sound judgement, resilience and the ability to make decisions in a fast-moving environment
• A strong commitment to health, safety and operational discipline

Experience in building supplies, trade, merchant or construction-related operations would be highly regarded. However, we are also interested in experienced leaders from logistics, distribution, manufacturing or large-format retail environments who can demonstrate relevant operational and commercial capability.
