Procurement & Inventory Specialist

There's nothing more frustrating for customers than empty shelves, unavailable products, or excess stock tying up valuable space and resources. That's where you come in.

Mitre 10 (New Zealand) Limited needs no introduction. As a proudly locally owned and operated business, you’ll find us in almost every town across Aotearoa through our MEGA, Mitre 10, and Hammer Hardware stores. We’re a big “Kiwi” brand — and here’s your chance to join our Ponsonby store, where a tight-knit team and hands-on environment offer a unique opportunity to make a real impact.

This is a critical role within the business, responsible for ensuring the right stock is in the right place at the right time. You'll work closely with suppliers, department leaders, and the wider store team to drive stock accuracy, improve availability, identify opportunities, and support business performance through effective inventory management.

This isn't an entry-level role. We're looking for someone who enjoys analysing data, solving problems, influencing outcomes, and taking ownership of inventory performance.

This is a full-time (Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week (very occasional support may be needed on weekends)) senior, specialist position within the business, with the ability to really grow and advance your career!

What you'll be responsible for

  • Managing inventory through the full procurement lifecycle using SAP and related systems.
  • Monitoring stock levels, forecasting demand, and identifying opportunities to improve stock availability and productivity.
  • Partnering with department managers to optimise ranging, inventory levels, and purchasing decisions.
  • Building effective supplier relationships to proactively manage stock availability, supply issues, and commercial opportunities.
  • Maintaining accurate physical and system inventory records and investigating discrepancies.
  • Managing invoice reconciliation and ensuring inventory transactions are completed accurately.
  • Supporting promotional planning and ensuring inventory commitments are met for key trading events.
  • Leading and supporting stocktake activities and ongoing inventory control processes.
  • Using data and reporting to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and make informed recommendations.

What you'll bring

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • Previous experience in inventory management, stock control, procurement, supply chain, or a similar analytical role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, ideally SAP.
  • Sound understanding of stock receipting, inventory control, and reconciliation processes.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Confidence building relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach and the confidence to challenge, investigate, and improve existing processes.

What's in it for you?

  • Monday to Friday role, 40 hours per week.
  • A senior specialist position with significant influence on store performance.
  • Supportive team culture and a collaborative working environment.
  • On-site parking.
  • Staff buying privileges and Team Perks discounts.

If you're passionate about creating seamless customer experiences and thrive in a fast-paced retail environment, this is your opportunity to lead, grow, and make a real impact. Join a supportive team and work with a trusted Kiwi brand – apply now!
