People and Capabilities Manager Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby

Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby is a family-owned Christchurch business which strives to offer exceptional customer service to every customer-every time.

We’re on the lookout for an experienced People & Capability Manager to lead our people strategy and help build a high-performing team of over 200 team members at Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby.

This is a key leadership role where you’ll partner closely with the Store Manager and Senior Leadership Team, owning recruitment, capability, culture, H&S and core HR across the store.

The successful candidate will be involved in:

• Leading recruitment, onboarding, and inductions
• Driving training, development, and team capability
• Supporting leaders with performance, ER, and people matters
• Building an engaged, positive, high-performance culture
• Ensuring HR compliance and best-practice people processes
• Keep H&S processes, records and registers up to date.
• Support incident investigations, H&S inspections and follow up actions
• Drive HR and H&S projects, process improvements, and compliance initiatives.

The successful applicant will have:

•  Proven experience in a senior HR, People & Capability, or similar leadership role.
•  Strong background in recruitment, training, and team development.
•  Working knowledge of NZ Employment Relations and Health & Safety legislation.
  
•  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•  A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence and inspire.
•  Experience in retail or a fast-paced customer service environment is a plus.
