A bit about the role

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic Full-Time Kitchen Hand to join our team at Columbus Coffee, located within Mitre 10 Wainuiomata.

This is a busy, hands-on role where no two days are the same! You'll play an important part in keeping our kitchen running smoothly, supporting our chefs and wider café team to deliver a great experience for our customers.

This is a full-time position working five days per week, including at least one weekend day.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Washing, rinsing, cleaning and putting away dishes, kitchen equipment and utensils.
• Maintaining a clean, tidy and hygienic kitchen, including cleaning workspaces, equipment and floors.
• Assisting our chefs with basic food preparation and general kitchen duties.
• Handling stock, supplies and equipment, including regular manual handling and heavy lifting.
• Supporting the Front of House team when required, including serving customers, delivering food, clearing tables and keeping the café presentable.
• Assisting with other general café duties as needed to keep things running smoothly.

We are looking for someone who:

• Is reliable, hardworking and has a positive, can-do attitude.
• Is happy to roll up their sleeves and help wherever needed.
• Is physically fit and comfortable with prolonged standing, walking, manual handling and heavy lifting.
• Can work independently and use their initiative when required.
• Has good communication and customer service skills.
• Can multitask and work efficiently in a busy environment.
• Is flexible, adaptable and works well as part of a team.
• Has a genuine interest in hospitality and a willingness to learn.
• Is available to work five days per week, including at least one weekend day.

Previous hospitality experience would be an advantage, but a great attitude, reliability and willingness to get stuck in are what matter most!
