AEC Hardware, proudly operating Mitre 10 MEGA Ferrymead and Mitre 10 MEGA Prestons, is seeking an exceptional Group Retail Manager to lead customer experience, retail performance, profitability, and leadership capability across both stores.

This is not a traditional retail management role.

This is a highly visible leadership position designed for someone who enjoys being on the retail floor, developing leaders, driving performance, and creating consistency across multiple locations.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will take ownership of all retail performance outcomes across both Mitre 10 MEGA stores.

You will lead and develop our Zone Leaders and Team Leaders while ensuring customer experience, sales growth, gross profit performance, labour productivity, and retail execution standards are consistently achieved.

Being a part of the company’s senior leadership team, you will be accountable for the overall retail performance of both stores. Success in this role will come through your ability to build on a positive inclusive culture that also develops leaders, creates accountability, and achieves sales, profit, and customer service goals.

Your focus will include:

• Ensuring both stores are customer-ready, commercially focused and operating at a high standard every day.
• Driving customer experience standards and service excellence.
• Implementing consistent operating standards, retail routines, and accountability frameworks.
• Leading retail sales, gross profit, and profitability performance across both stores.
• Coaching and developing Team Leaders to achieve outstanding results.
• Identifying sales growth, margin improvement, and productivity opportunities.
• Managing retail labour performance and wage budgets.
• Supporting succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
• Working closely with Inventory, Merchandise, and Marketing managers to execute retail strategies.
• Identifying and addressing underperformance, capability, and customer service gaps plus operational challenges.

You will be the person our retail leaders turn to for support, guidance, coaching, and direction.

About You

You are an experienced retail, operations, or multi-site leadership professional who combines strong commercial acumen with a practical, hands-on leadership style.

You will bring:

• Strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proven success leading large-format retail operations.

Role Details

• Full-time salaried position
• Retail leadership responsibility across both Ferrymead and Prestons stores  
• Regular travel between sites required  
• Tuesday to Saturday roster
